Tips for Choosing the Right Web Design Company For Training

Finding the right web design company to handle your Internet presence can be a tricky thing. After all, there are lots of people posing as web designers these days who do little more than download a WordPress template, swap out an element here or there, and secure a cheap hosting agreement.

But that’s not web design. Nor will it deliver you the traffic you want or the features you need to bring your product or service to the attention of the people who matter: potential customers. There’s more to website design than meets the eye. A lot more.

Finding the Right Web Design Company:

Too many business owners today are bowled over by an attractive GUI (Graphical User Interface) and don’t concern themselves with how that nice-looking digital storefront is going to translate into conversions. But they should.

The fact is the process of finding the right web design company will require some effort, but it’s not as difficult as you might think. Here are key 4 tips to aid in your search:

  1. Make sure your designer is also a developer – A fancy design by itself won’t yield much. For a website to pay dividends, it must, at minimum, be search engine friendly, load quickly, be updated regularly, have high-quality content, and adapt itself to a variety of different delivery platforms. That is, it must scale itself to different devices. Those are “developer” issues and if your designer doesn’t know how to do those things you should find one that does.
  2. They should know how to create “responsive” designs – As we alluded to above, your website should scale to display properly on different devices such as tablets and smartphones. This is called “responsive” design. If your website is built only for PCs it’s dead in the water. If a web design company cannot create a responsive design for you it’s time to look for someone else.
  3. Examine the company’s portfolio – Ask for a list of websites the company has built as well as contact numbers. Bring up those websites on your smartphone and PC. Do they load fast? Do they respond to different devices? Is the navigation clear and intuitive? Call the owners and ask them what it was like to work with the company.
  4. Will they handle your SEO efforts? – Without Search Engine Optimization (SEO) your website will be just another grain of sand on the digital beach. SEO is what gets you noticed by search engines, what drives traffic, and what determines whether you succeed or fail on the web. Everything your web designer does must take SEO into account in some fashion. If the web design company doesn’t handle SEO you should find one that does.
